In addition to our general medical services, Rocky Mountain Women’s Health Center offers the latest in medical care advancements and technology. These cutting edge procedures ensure that you are receiving the very best care we can offer. All of our Innovative Procedures can be conveniently performed at our facilities. Ask us if any of the procedures listed below are right for you.

Permanent Birth Control

Is your family complete or are you unhappy with your current birth control? We offer a safe and effective method of permanent birth control known as Essure. Unlike other methods of permanent birth control, this non-invasive method does not require cutting or general anesthesia—and typically can be completed within 30 minutes. Generally you can return to work within 24 to 48 hours of your procedure. To learn more about Essure, please arrow click here.

Treatments for Excessive Menstrual Bleeding

Did you know that 1 in 5 women suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding? If you’re changing your pad hourly, planning your social life around your menstrual cycle or packing extra pants "just in case," there is a solution. Heavy menstrual bleeding, also known as menorrhagia, is NOT normal.

Once treated through hormone therapy, dilation & curettage (D & C) or a hysterectomy—there are now less invasive treatments available. An endometrial ablation is highly effective and can be performed on an outpatient basis. We offer two proven procedures in the privacy of our offices that will minimize or end heavy menstrual bleeding:

  • The HTA® procedure relies on the circulation of heated saline which fills the uterine cavity. Use of a localized anesthetic is required. For more information about the HTA procedure,

  • The Novasure procedure delivers a measured electrical energy charge that removes the endometrial (uterus) lining but requires no incisions. Generally the entire process takes about five minutes and will require the use of a localized anesthetic. For more information about this procedure,

Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH)

If your healthcare provider has recommended a hysterectomy, take the time to discuss the benefits of a LSH (Laproscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy) with your doctor. Far less invasive than a traditional abdominal hysterectomy, having a LSH reduces pain, minimizes scarring and takes only a few days to recover from—not weeks.

During the LSH procedure, your surgeon will use a thin, lighted, telescope-like instrument called a laparoscope, which is inserted through 3-4 tiny incisions into the abdomen. The incisions are so tiny that stitches are not required, making the healing process much easier for the patient and often enabling the procedure to be completed on an outpatient basis.

While the patient’s uterus is removed during the LSH procedure, the cervix is most often left in place, decreasing future complications. Performed since the 1990s, doctors sometime refer to LSH as the “painless hysterectomy.” To learn more, please click here or talk with your healthcare provider.

3D and 4D Ultrasound Services

We offer all our obstetric patients a true "womb with a view." Our state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment takes both 3D and 4D ultrasound images, enabling our service providers to safely gauge the development of your baby while giving you peace of mind. We are also pleased to announce our recent accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for promoting the safe and effective use of ultrasound and excellence in patient care. This voluntary certification ensures that all the physicians and sonographers at our obstetric/gynecology practice have received documented ultrasound training, have the appropriate credentials, and receive continuing education in their field. It also verifies that all ultrasound equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Testing for Osteoporosis

Are you concerned about osteoporosis? Fractures resulting from this condition can be very painful and adversely affect the way you live your life. We offer bone mineral density (BMD) exams through a quick, painless and non-invasive method known as DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry). The DEXA exam uses a weak form of x-ray to scan bones and check the density in various places throughout your body, such as your hip and spine. This procedure requires no special medication or injections, and only takes about 20 minutes to complete. For more information about bone density exams and osteoporosis, please arrow click here.
